A Matter of Can (tapi bukan masalah kaleng)
Today is a history! After more than 10 years of not having any physical education, I did a sit-up race at school. I didn’t sign up -of course. Me? Sit up race??- but the student who was supposed to be there didn’t show up. Right one second after the whistle blew, I jumped in and began. I teased my team, “This will require a prayer (cuz I never had a good record at sport -...

Bamboo practice
I think I’m one of the luckiest persons in the world! Haha, maybe that’s too much, but it’s true that I’ve been lucky several times. Name them; Nuno Bettencourt’s guitar pick that fell right on one of my folded hands during the Extreme concert, got iPhone 3G with a good price (don’t count the day when it was stolen), got many requests approved at work without...

Caught IN! ...and off...
I’ve always been living with a camera since I was 10 years old. By that time, it was only a small compact camera with film. I still keep my first work and it’s so ludicrous cuz all of the people’s head are just as small as an ant. I didn’t know about zoom in, or maybe my cam didn’t have it. In total, my camera (that has been changing several times because of several...

Oscar
Who is Oscar? He’s an art mannequin in my class. My friend at work, Astri, named him after the movie award trophy because he looks like it. And now my students know him as Oscar. “Miss, may I take Oscar for my model?” one of my students asked me. So funny. And I think I’m going to keep that name as long as I work there. “As long as I work there”. How long...

Cantare!
I love photography, I love traveling, and I love drawing. But there’s one thing I’ve been missing lately, esp since I lost my iPhone, my recording tool; I’ve missed singing. I guess I have too many things that is hard for me to focus on one only. Sometimes I wish I were a person like Michael Jackson who was focused on one area only for the whole of his life, and that’s...

Coffee and Planning
What do people do when they sit by themselves inside a coffee shop? Sometimes I see them with a note book, story book, magazine, or such. I don’t know what they do, but if I’m alone in a place like that, I’m probably reading or doing such a big plan. I remember 2 years ago when I often went to Ngopi Doeloe with a giant size of paper, planning a curriculum for the school...

Lebaran Escape
Finally the plan was executed. The route was Bandung - Bekasi - Jakarta - Bali - Lombok - Jakarta - Bandung. I was mentally ready for going on solo. One day before, one of my close friends Bella said that she’d also go to Bali 2 days after me and we planned to meet each other there. Okay, I got more friends. And just a few hours before leaving, another old friend from univ greeted me on...

Bali (non) budget trip...plus Lombok?
Having a trip around Lebaran? Never been on my plan before. But when the spontanity comes together with what so called adrenaline, what can I say, I might give in my savings for it. At first, I was only thinking of visiting a near place. Name it, Pelabuhan Ratu. I’m just desperate for finding more objects to capture, so I don’t care. As long as it’s new for me and has some...

Domas Crater
Last week I got a chance to accompany Matt, my guest from Couch Surfing to Tangkuban Perahu, together with my crazy mate Yusni Reiny. And guess what, that was actually my first time to step my feet on Kawah Domas’ sulfur. So funny, local people live just for their routine and having a visiting traveler means a chance to go out and see too!

July 13, 2011 (Flying back to Bandung)
Our itinerary was all done. The last one left was only to get to Changi and do all the procedures until we’re all safe home. We already decided not to be in a hurry. We took a slow morning procedure like breakfast, shower (…if we did), packing up, and so on. All joined properties were returned to the owners to make sure that we brought home the right belongings. And as usual, the rucksacks were...

July 12, 2011 (Singapore shopping day)
See, my feeling was right. Later on, we would want another extra day. This day was the last full day in Singapore and also the last full day of the whole traveling. Ejin and I woke up so early and we played Guitar Heroes while waiting for Tika awaken from her bed. Actually, we planned to start this day earlier because we wanted to check what’s in Sentosa Island, but it’s cancelled. We’re too much...

July 11, 2011 (IKEA – Fyler – Brewerkz)
Two of us studied architecture, and the other one is about to get married with an architect. Of course, we would like a place like IKEA. There’re 2 stores in Singapore, but I brought my fellows to the biggest one, also the farthest one. It was a sacrifice to go there, but we enjoyed the place. Shopping there was not our main priority, but we got some inspirations from there. Looking for all the...

July 10, 2011 (Singapore – Fort Canning)
We woke up lazily and our first agenda was church! Yes, we went to New Creation Church. It was so Singaporean, queuing everywhere including at the hall where we were still waiting for the first service ended. The church was located in Suntec City, the closest church we found, so we also had lunch there at the food court. Ejin and I shared Indian dishes while Tika had fish soup with milk. We went...

July 9, 2011 (Melaka – Singapore)
It was not very exciting at first, knowing that it’s time to move to Singapore. It was like ‘what else there?’, but we still had a few hours to explore some part of this town. Having dim sum was our first choice, continued with walking around for finding a coffee store, sightseeing, and photo session =P We checked out at 11. This time, we got Sam in person. I think I know why the guest house is...

July 8, 2011 (Kuala Lumpur - Melaka)
Thanks to the guy at the bus station, we got information about the ticket to Melaka so we could continue our travel. The bus to Melaka left at 9 o’clock, and the journey took about 2 hours. I guess we made the right decision not to pop up in KL because it’s faster to get to Melaka Sentral from the airport. Before mid-day, we’re already at the heart of Melaka’s historical place. As soon as...

July 7, 2011 (Phuket Town – Kuala Lumpur)
This could be the day with the most sweat. We wasted time by walking around the town in the hot afternoon just for sightseeing. We had no specific objects to see, but we found a Wat in town and some shaded benches inside the area. So those became our next objects. The benches, I mean =P There were some school students near us. And we found that not only they have to wear uniform, but they also...

July 6, 2011 (Phi-phi Island Trip)
We were expecting just a normal van to pick us up to Phi-phi trip, but we got a luxurious Toyota! Hurray! When we’re already on board, we just knew that it was an exclusive trip with other people from other hotels. Note: they’re from hotels and we’re from a hostel. So we had a society gap, especially in dealing with a family with zero behavior. Nah, it’s not a good thing to tell. We still had...

July 5, 2011 (Krabi Town – Patong – Phuket Town)
Last night was tiring, so we got up a little late. Anyway, the next travel was at 11. So we still had time. Gemma and Jenny also checked out at the same day with us. Lucky were the last 3 girls in the room who were less cooperative to us. We’re all leaving… We had another van transfer at ‘I don’t know’ place. Yeah rite… And guess what, after the transfer, we got the same driver as one who brought...

July 4, 2011 (Krabi Town – Railey Beaches – Phra...
Cool English people! They bargained so hard to get a good deal! We travelled with 8 other people, but 4 of them left us after the meal. There were Gemma, Jenny, Isabelle, Adam, and us, but later we all left Isabelle because she wanted to stay there. Railey beach was very good. We played Frisbee on the seaside and did what we call ‘leyeh-leyeh di tepi pantai’. It was very hot, but that’s the...

July 3, 2011 (Penang – Hat Yai – Krabi Town)
(got lost in Hat Yai - where in the world is that?) Besides the destination topic, ‘potty’ topic was a part of our daily discussions too! I don’t mean to be gross, but that naturally happened, especially when we were about to have a long road trip to the north. Hehehehe… This was so awkward. The guy at the front desk said 8 hrs to get to Krabi. In fact, it didn’t include the van transfer in Hat...

We should check in at 3 o’clock in the morning. Too bad, I couldn’t sleep before. I don’t want to blame the mosquitoes. Maybe it’s because I was enjoying the wifi on bed too much =P Around 2.30, my uncle drove us to the airport together with my aunt. God bless Air Asia! That coach was sooo laris manis. The immigration also had a long queue. I guess we knew why we’re told to check in 3 hrs...

July 1, 2011 (Bandung - Bekasi)
Hope it’s not too stale. I should’ve written it down right at the time, but oh well, it’s just more practical to write on my PC at home. So, I started the day with… breakfast. Ahaha, that’s gonna be far too long. I started the trip at Cipaganti Dipatiukur in the afternoon to travel to Bekasi together with Tika. Ejin was already there so we decided to have that town as our preparation point. We...

Faith and Map
Thd sermon yeaterday said we should live by faith, and faith is not by seeing but believing. So, I guess I’m fine not to carry on a map during the travel. Hehehehe….. Let’s go!
