Who is Oscar? He’s an art mannequin in my class. My friend at work, Astri, named him after the movie award trophy because he looks like it. And now my students know him as Oscar. “Miss, may I take Oscar for my model?” one of my students asked me. So funny. And I think I’m going to keep that name as long as I work there.
“As long as I work there”. How long will it be?
Ah, I don’t want to think too serious about it now, but I’m taking this seriously. No matter how long, that must be after I’m able to work as what’s written on my contract; a full time art teacher. So what am I now? Definitely not one. My time in some weeks are still more consumed not to things related to my subject. I substitute absent teachers at least once a week. I do decorations aside my subjects often. And later I will have to give grades to students I don’t teach or assign any work. So I guess, before I plan to resign, I must plan to be able to become a real art teacher. And I will keep this in my head; teacher’s part is to educate, and for some cases, it’s not only the students who needs to be educated.
What about what so called ‘system?’ Let Oscar be the wood-witness later.
